This week for Write On Edge was about summer. To celebrate, participants were challenged to write about sand in 450 words or less. Well, not about sand, just have it in the story.

The grains of sand slipped one by one through his fingers. They turned invisible when they hit the ground, blending in with the other grains that made up the beach he sat on. He let the rest of the sand fall before running his fingers through it. His fingers carved slim paths through the sand, creating swirling patterns. A smile twitched his lips when he finished.

Actually, nope, I haven't been writing now. I've been editing. But that's a good thing because that was one of my goals. Edit Snapshots. I also hired Cassie to proof it and all the commas are in the right place. Now, it's onto formatting. *shudder* I also need to contact some people about a blog tour and look into advertising the release. Still plenty to do before Snapshots is ready to be published.

I admit I completely forgot about working on Leaves of Fall. Again. But come on! *whines* It's from the female POV and I ha-at-ate writing in female POV. Plus, I have other stories. I recently rewrote the first Path of Angels book so now I want to work on those. And there's Puck. I really want to get back to his story. Wouldn't mind Elijah talking to me either.

--Here's my question: DO YOU BELIEVE IN YOUR BOOK?

If so, get your ass out there!!

Lisa Genova, who wrote Still Alice, sold her book from the trunk of her car. I asked her, "Why did you do that?" & she said, "Because I believed in my book. It had to be read!!!"

You. Can. Do. It. Too. <3 Great Post. Good Luck!

This week Write On Edge talked about passive voice. We all fall victim to it. That's why I need beta readers. They point out a passive sentence that I may not realize is passive. For this week's challenge participants were give three examples of passive sentences. The goal was to make them active in 100 words. I chose: [he/she/I] was possessed by...

Once again, I'm going with something from Snapshots. Which means there should be at least one typo that slips through. *headdesk*

I realized the other day that at the end of August it will be one year since I published Being Human. That made me giddy. And a bit blown away. One year! It honestly doesn't feel that long. Feels like yesterday. Or maybe last week. Naturally, my mind started wondering how to celebrate, but that's for when the date is closer.

For now, I want to talk about my book, the sales and my struggle to market.

I am anti-social. No denying that. I complain on Twitter and Facebook about having to be social. Sometimes I get really stubborn about my anti-socialness and refuse to engage new people. I guess you could say I embrace my anti-socialness. There's a problem with that though: Anti-social is bad for my book.

It's official. I am at the panic stage of publishing Snapshots. The OMG-my-writing-completely-sucks-no-one-will-want-to-read-my-books-and-Snapshots-will-get-nothing-but-one-star-reviews. Nevermind the fact my beta readers, Lor and MaryBeth, were awesome and rated it four stars on Goodreads. They are also getting ready to smack me right about now. Ah, friends.

I think that means I'm on the right track too. The same happened with Being Human and so far it only has one 2 star review. I panicked and stressed over it being ready to release. At one point, I had to stop reading it over so I wouldn't try to tweak it anymore. A writer can only edit so much before they start ruining the story as opposed to improving it.

This week, Write on Edge challenges me to write a 400 word piece where fate plays a role in the story. Like last week, I'm using Snapshots. This time, it's a scene from the actual story. Enjoy and don't forget to check out the other participants.

Across from me was a three-story brick building taking up most of the block with a tall fence surrounding it. Yellow buses were lined in front of the building, their engines idling. Faintly, I heard a bell ring. The sounds of chaos filled the air as people piled out of the building.

I jogged across the street during a lull in traffic and propped myself against the fence. Most of the students headed for the buses, but others headed for a parking lot along the side of the building. Laughter and chatter filled the air. The happiness caught on the fence, unable to reach me.

Welcome to the release party and giveaway for The Dryad Quartet hosted by Shadow Blog Tours. One lucky person will receive SIGNED copies of all four books. The covers are beautiful and the blurbs sound teasing. Especially book four.

I'm going to warn you right now, this post is honest. I'm not going to sugar coat anything or pretend everything is rainbows and unicorns.

Today has been... blue. My spirits are in the dirt and my motivation MIA. I wrote 3 or 4K on a short today and it all felt lack luster. The words were't bad, but there was no emotion, no connection to the character. I wasn't feeling what I felt when I started his story a couple days ago.

Various things have got me down right now. My chair broke and I need a new one. I also need a new canopy for outside craft shows. Neither of those are cheap to replace. I'm waiting on payment from the Turkish rights deal before I can get either of them plus a birthday present for hubby. Let's not talk about how so far this months my sales for Being Human make me want to curl up in a ball and sob.

I happened to look at my follower count today and had a squee moment. I am almost to 666 followers. Yes, I am excited about that. Everyone laments it, but I think it's funny and fun. So in celebration of this, I decided to have a giveaway. Up for grabs is my debute ebook, Being Human. How do you enter? Be lucky follower 666. I will tweet the winner.

You also may have noticed my blog has moved. Yup, I finally made the move to Weebly's blog feature. I wanted the consistency. Even though it means giving up google friend connect for followers. But I do have a follower widget and network blog widget. You can still stalker... er follow me.

And for that here is a bonus giveaway. Follow my blog to win an ebook of Being Human. For a bonus entry, tweet about it. Giveaway will be open for seven days. I will announce and email the winner.
