2013 is here and I am glad. Mostly because the holidays are over and NO MORE TRAVELLING! Hubby and I drove down to Mississippi (From upper Michigan) to see his family. That is not a fun drive.

Anyways, it's also Insecure Writers Support Group time. I only remembered because Alex sent an email. Thank you Alex! Given that it's a new year I figured I would try to set some yearly goals. Also, I need monthly goals for Are You Writing Now?.

This year I'd like to get more than one book published. I have a bunch of first drafts sitting around and I need to get polishing. My main yearly goal is going to be publish more than one book. More than two would be great, but since I write like crap when stressed, I'm not pushing myself to over do it. I'd like to write five days a week too. I'm not sure how the next few weeks will go. I'm starting my job today and I've been out of work for a year and half so I need to get back into the swing of working. I might be worn out at the end of my shift at first and too tired to care about writing. It won't last though so I'm sure I can manage writing five days a week this year. *fingers crossed*

As for monthly goals, I have a story I need to beta for one of my writing partners and I need to pick a first draft and edit it. Last night I finished the first draft of Sunlight so there are no first drafts I feel compelled to get done. All I have to do is pick a draft to start working on. I'm thinking Out of Secrets. Or Vexed. But I also want to work on Half Slayed. Ugh! I have too many first drafts. I'm just going to pick one and finish it this month and then next month pick another for that month's goal. If I think about all I need to get done, I'll just get flustered. One story at a time for me. I also want to read more so I want to set a goal to read at least one book per month. More is good, but I like starting small. Small goals are easily doable. If I can achieve a small goal then I'm motivated to go bigger.

I will probably need some help with these goals too. Or a few good kicks to get me going. Someone please poke me every now and then and bug me to write. I swear if you nag me I will do it. ^_~

Wow, how freaking awesome that you have so many drafts to choose from! You're the kind of writer I aspire to be like. I'm totally envious! Editing is my favorite part of the process. You sooo got this! Happy New Year! :)

I blame my obsessiveness to get the first draft done. I can't work on anything else. A bit of a pain when I get a new idea and have older ideas I need to work on. lol
You're right though, I totally got this. =D

Good luck with this years goals. I think writing them down helps. It adds an extra layer of motivation. Work is hard on the writing time but I'm sure you'll fit it in when you can.

Maybe I need to get some post it notes to hang up around my laptop. =) Once I get back into the swing of working, then my writing will pick back up.

I love that you are starting an accountability group, and you have so many drafts to choose from . . . I get ideas and start them and then don't have time to for all of them too.
I like the idea of having doable goals, starting small and then working up. I have a tendency to make huge lists of goals and then find them daunting.

It's probably a good idea to pick one story, work on it, and then move to the next. Of course, I have a hard time doing that because I want to work on all the stories now. :) Good luck with your goals! Happy New Year!
