*Edited to add: I was debating posting this because I wasn't sure I should whine about something like this.
This past week was IndieRecon and I was taking part in Cover Wars (I came in third.) Since I'd be getting some exposure, I thought it'd be a good time to put Being Human on sale. Another site, eBookSoda, a new book site, was offering free promo as a way to get their name out. I submitted Being Human and was able to get featured during IndieRecon. I was all set to spread the word and hopefully get some sales.
You don't need me to tell you how depressing that is. And I've been telling myself that sales don't have to be instant. I have to think long term and not short term when it comes to marketing. But still, I was bummed.
I asked a writing buddy this: Did I seriously just write a shit book that even 99cents doesn't work?
His (drunken) reply: Your book is not shit, otherwise I would have told you it's shit.
Then, a few days later, I got this tweet: Hi @plynne_writes =) Snapshots. Super-duper bummed to see it's not available anymore. Will it be reissued?? *fingers crossed*
Those made me feel better. The moral of this post: Um... don't despair, you win some, you lose some, but remember, your readers are out there, waiting for you to find them. (Had to think on that. I didn't want this IWSG post end without a note of positive.)
