The prompt I'm doing today is March 23rd's prompt: Write about an experience you had that was so strange or incredible that it sounds like it could have been made up.
I'm not quite sure if my story is incredible, but it is true and funny.
Friday, at my day job, our usual dishwasher called in so I did double duty: cook and dishwasher. Needless to say, that made me very tired by the end of my shift. I was helping my coworker with an order and he told me to make a stacked beef sandwich. What that is is cream cheese mixed with chopped scallions, shaved beef on your choice of bread. We have other stacked sandwiches that are made with honey mustard instead. I grabbed the bread, some ham and the honey mustard.
My coworker notices and says, "No, I need a stacked beef."
I look at him. "I am making one."
It took me a couple minutes before it finally hit me that, no, i wasn't making a stacked beef. All the while, trying to convince my coworker that I was making the right sandwich. The right sandwich was made, and not long after, I got to go home.
Of course, it doesn't end there. The next day, when my coworker arrived for his shift, I asked him to bring me the back up sliced tomatoes. He turns and walks away, leaving me and another coworker thinking he didn't hear. He grabs the recipe book and sets it in front of me. He thought I said recipe book, not tomatoes.
We are a bright bunch at my day job, as you can tell.
