Dreams don’t come cheap; you have to work for them. I get so frustrated when I hear people say they want something that could be attained with a little hard work, but it’s like they expect things to fall out of the sky and into their laps. That rarely happens, and even if it did, wouldn’t it feel better to haveworked for something? The sense of accomplishment is so rewarding when you know you’ve done something big. With hard work—and sometimes great risk—comes great rewards.
Think of the people you admire and respect the most. In the majority of cases, it’s probably someone who is successful and who has gone after their dreams. It’s not always easy, and there are usually setbacks along the way, but if you decide what you want to do in life, set goals, and work to achieve them, anything is possible.
Don’t let fear hold you back—fear of the unknown, fear of failure, or fear of hard work. The fear can be paralyzing, and can prevent you from going after your dreams, but you have to believe in yourself and trust that your hard work will pay off. If I didn’t believe that, I’d be in a corner somewhere letting life pass me by. Writing a book took a huge amount of work, and deciding to publish it took a lot of courage. It’s a very competitive market out there, and authors have to develop a thick skin. I’ve always been a very sensitive person, but I didn’t let that stop me, because being an author has always been my dream.
I’m living my dream—how many people can truly say that? Are you one of them? Or will you be one of them? What are your dreams?
