I think it was three years ago I attempted a newsletter. The site I used was basic and easy, but I can't recall the name. It wasn't MailChimp, I remember that much. I ended up closing the account after a few months because I felt like I had nothing interesting to share. Add to the fact that I don't subscribe to newsletters and find them annoying, it wasn't something I was eager to do despite every writer and their mother declaring every writer should have a newsletter. With that said, guess what?
I'm starting a newsletter... again...
Don't get me wrong, I'm still not on the newsletter bandwagon and won't be signing up for many anytime soon, but what changed was my website host, Weebly, sent me an email about their newsletter feature. Since it's integrated with my website, I have templates to make it look pretty, can send blog recaps, sales of books, as well as normal newsletter formats. I'm using the free version now, so I'm limited to two newsletters a month. Which I think I can come up with something easily enough. I'll probably use one for a monthly blog recap and the other to promote sales or give secret updates about what I'm working on. We'll see. I promise no spam, but there might be vampires. ;)
So consider this my call to action. As a reward I will share a sneak peak of the cover and blurb of my upcoming novel, Abducted Life. It still needs a professional edit, but I hope to have it published in January 2017 if not earlier. (Ya'll hold me to this. Unless the election tomorrow ends the world, then I'm gonna be pissed that all my work was for nothing!) NaNoEditMo Update
Monday means it's time to give an update on how my editing is going. Well, I finished a round on Abducted Life and Tui Snider offered to beta read for me, so I sent it to her. Then instead of moving on to Luc's story, I wrote a little on another story set in the universe of Abducted Life. Good job, Patricia. Eventually, I did open Luc's story and read through it and edited it. I tried to make Rose's life more miserable. >8D

Wouldn't that be the way of it? All your hard work on an awesome new book--out soon--and the world ends. At least it will be with a bang and not a whimper. ;)

The only author newsletter I subscribe to is for an author that has no blog, and she only sends the newsletter out when she has a new release. That's pretty much all I care about. But somebody must enjoy newsletters as they keep saying authors should have them.

You find newsletters annoying, but you're making one? LOL I subscribed, but might I suggest just one a month? More than that is a lot for people to subscribe to. You may lose subscribers with two newsletters a month. :\

I signed up. I'm not sure about newsletters for children's authors like me. I don't think people are that likely to sign up when they're just the parents or teachers of those who like your books!

I don't really sign up for newsletters either, but I've been writing one for family and friends since 2006, so branching out to one for writing stuff wasn't that difficult. Actually, it was quite natural--but I only send one when I have something to say. Sometimes that's once a month, sometimes it's once every six months. I hope you find your pace quickly with it!

Alright, we signed up, but there better be SO many hilarious cat memes coming our way. Those are pretty much what I run off of. Oh, I guess I'll also accept books and vampires. Those are good, too.

I don't think the world ended, but did someone whack it off its axis? Maybe so. Good luck with the news letter. I signed up. I'm not doing one myself. Any info I wish to share can go on my blog.

I'm not a newsletter devotee either. That's why I don't do one, but I do have my Email Connect and there's not one drop of news in it. It takes time and, of course, there's not much left of that. However, as long as I'm enjoying putting it together, I'll continue. When it's not fun anymore, I'll stop. Good luck with your newsy newsletter.
