I used to always make Tommy blog. It was fun getting back into his head. Sometimes I miss that clueless vampire. I thought it'd be fun to reshare this old post. It's also a list post, so bonus! I hear readers love those.
Also, while I'm being shameless, don't forget I have a book giveaway going on here.
I have a treat for you today. A couple weeks ago, I learned that May 24th was considered Brothers Day and I thought, "Hey, I have a book with two brothers. Identical twins to be exact!" How could I let this day pass without celebrating?
I could not, of course!
Yes, you heard right. You get a cookie for this. Just let me shove it through the computer speakers... Crap, it's not working. Okay, let me amend this. You clicked this so in YOUR honor *I* will eat a cookie for you. Trust me, it tastes delicious.
All silliness aside, I do have a favor to ask. May 24th is Brothers Day and since my YA, Being Human, has a theme of brothers, I thought I should do some promotion to coincide with it.
Back when I published Being Human in 2011, my writing friend, MB Mulhall, made these mock posters for Vampire Forces. One of the things I love about movies is the details that go into creating the world. I always imagined if Being Human was a movie, there would be these kinds of details put into putting the story on the big screen. Vampire Forces would have badges that IDed them and they would have posters in places like schools reminding people that vampires were dangerous.
I really don't do enough shameless promotion on this blog. Mostly, I like to talk about other things regarding writing and my life. People don't like constantly being hawked to as it is, so I'd rather just be myself. A slick salesman I am not.
But it's Cyber Monday and I thought I'd get in on it with some book deals I hope you can't resist.
It's Halloween over in the UK and other parts of the world, so I'm hitting publish on this now. In a few hours, Michael's US Amazon page will update to free, so while you're waiting, grab my other books at Smashwords. I'll also be keeping the linky updated with everyone's link to their post so you don't have to navigate their blog (although, a few listing go directly to the Amazon page because they were last minute and I said it was okay.)
If you remember last year I had THE BEST IDEA EVER thanks to a discussion on #indiechat. We were discussing holiday promotion and how weird it would be to hand out your books to trick-or-treaters. Then I had the moment where I was like "What if I did a blog hop where authors handed out their books for free to readers? THE BOOKS ARE LIKE CANDY!"
Everyone thought it was a great idea. Well, I'm sure there was one person who didn't, but most everyone.
As Halloween approached, I debated doing it again. It's not hard, so it was more of a "Do I want to be lazy?" decision. Then Kate Tilton messaged me asking if I was doing it because I filled out the form to be a guest on #K8Chat about it. I had to make a snap decision so I said YES!
With the release of Gabriel, I put out a call for bloggers asking to let me take over their blogs for release day. Along with it, I asked if anyone wanted to review it. A fellow Twitter buddy, Avid Reader, said yes, but when it came time to send the review copies, I found out she hadn't read previous books. Naturally, I offered to send them. Then we ran into a little hitch.
Avid Reader wasn't a fan of LGBT stories and Michael has LGBT characters and love interest. Gabriel did as well. At first, she offered to give them a shot. I was fine with that, hopeful Michael and Lake would win her over. As we talked, I started feeling bad. I didn't want her to read something that wasn't her cup of tea just for my sake. She then said Zadekiel and Jophiel sounded interesting, so I offered to let her know how the series end. Then it hit me. (I was in the shower, naturally, when the muse smacked me upside the head with the solution.)
It's time for the Insecure Writer's Support Group again. IWSG is posted the first Wednesday of every month. It is the brain child of Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh. Get your fears and insecurities out or give words of encouragement. We're writers, let's support each other!
This month's co-hosts are Suzanne Furness, Tonja Drecker, Toi Thomas, Rachna Chhabria, Fundy Blue, and Donna Hole. Finally, remembering to link to them.
