![]() Snapshots' inside is getting a makeover. Slowly, I'm plugging in the changes I inked into the paperback copy I have. I'm excited for the improvements to the story. Once I'm done with that, I think I might ask a few buddies to read the new version and see what they think. Snapshots is getting one step closer to rerelease. And that has me thinking about the cover. Again. Do I want to keep it or get a new one? A shiny new cover might go well with a rerelease. That would mean hiring an illustrator because there is zero chance of me finding a model wearing a bandana the way Cyc does. But I do like this cover. Keary did a lovely job on it. Why spend money when I like the current cover? I guess I just wonder if another cover would do better. Was this one not grabbing the attention I need it to? The only way to find out is to get a new cover, get the re-edit finished and release Snapshots back into the wild. I can also ask here. Anyone have any thoughts on Snapshots' cover? Yay? Nay? Should I take the risk with a new cover? Give me answers! Since it's Monday, time for a #writemotivation update.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the book: The current cover makes me think it's a dystopian with a love triangle aspect and a killer main character. I'd anticipate kind of a angsty/complaining character. I like the green text, the grey or white text at the bottom doesn't entice me to read it though (actually, it makes me shake my head, because it's not a tag line, and it feels awkward).

If you like the cover, why change it? Unless there's a little adjustment the original artist could do to add some spice.

From a design standpoint, I'd lose the crosshairs. I like the cover image and I think the text works, but in my personal opinion the crosshairs break up the otherwise clean lines of the man's face. Without knowing the book, of course, I can't speak to the significance of that part of the image, but as someone browsing covers I feel it detracts more than it adds.

i'd have to agree about taking off the crosshairs. it confused me what that had to do with snapshots. the picture is still stunning without it. just a suggestion. good luck with your rerelease!

This is the first time I've seen the Snapshots cover and it's doing it's job. It draws the eye in and keeps it there. It makes me want to look further. I love it. :)
