Hexakosioihexekontahexabhobe

––a person with the fear of the number 666
[Ancient Greek ἑξακόσιοι ("six hundred") + ἑξήκοντα ("sixty") + ἕξ ("six") + -phobia]
Say today's word five times fast. o.O

Dear Diary,
I don't know what to do. I can't control others! But I can't just sit idle and wait for disaster to strike. I have to do something to change my fate. I can't let my follower count on Twitter sit at 666! Someone please follow me! Or unfollow. I won't mind if I lose a follower now. They would be doing me a favor!

Update: I just checked. Still sitting at 666 even after asking people to help. Does no one care?????? That's it, I'm doomed. I'm going to go sit in my bedroom and wait to die.

Goodbye.

Wow! Do people have this phobia?? Was not aware of this one. And it's such a long and a tongue-twister of a phobia. LOL :D
I am visiting from the A to Z Challenge Co-host’s Team. Hope you are having a great time reading, writing and networking with co-participants of the A to Z Challenge, Patricia. Cheers :)

I've seen plenty people wary of the number so it wouldn't surprise me.

That sure is a mouthful.

You're finding so many interesting phobias I haven't heard of before. Love it! It's really a great theme.

I can't say it one time fast. I find this phobia hilarious because several of my family members have it. I'm tempted to exercise on our machines to a calorie count of 666 just to freak my husband out.

I'm not sure I can say that once, let alone five times! My advice to your protagonist - set up a fake account - follow yourself ;)

I don't think I could say it once at all, let alone fast. We won't even talk about five times.
LOL at freaking out over Twitter followers. That person just needs to follow lots of other people and hope someone follows back fast.

You've got to be kidding. Really? But the word's intriguing, even if I can't pronounce it.

Wow that's a mouthful. I'd be more afraid of saying the name of the phobia than the number.

That's a LONNNNNG word for it! I'm not that way over 666, but I find it funny when people are. But I am kinda that way over 13. I don't like to stop reading a book on page 13 or in Chapter 13. Weird way to be, right?!

That word belongs in a spelling bee. I don't mind the number 13 but 666 gives me the shivers.

So, I had to look this one up. Some people think this number is the symbol of the devil, but it turns out, the biblical passage is referring to the emperor Nero whom the early Christians considered a beast. 7 was a good number, so 666 is an insult. Here's a link to what I found: http://www.uscatholic.org/articles/201309/what-666-bible-27901

Woah, these are some crazy phobias. I'm about to start a Master of Arts in Counseling program. I wonder if I will encounter any of these phobias.

I never knew it had a word. I have all sorts of ways to explain that one shouldn't worry about it, but not a word for that fear. Cool theme.

Haha I will admit to having a brief moment of 'uh oh, i'm at 666 followers!' now and again. But it's more of a laughing way than a panic. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

I know these phobias are real for some people and can be debilitating but this one actually made me laugh. I just couldn't help it.

Love reading about all of these different phobias and they are great fodder for stories!

@MJ, this was a really fun theme to research.

@Tamara, hubby had a boss who never let a customer's amount come out to 6.66$ He always gave them an extra penny.

@Tasha, good advice! LOL

@Sarah, I'm not sure how to say it once either.

@C.Lee, you see why I picked it, eh?

@Alex, he's a dude to be afraid of, I think.

@Danielle, is that my bestie visiting me?????? =D

@JE, I'm sure there's a phobia for fear of saying weird words.

@Lori, I haven't a clue!

@Stephanie, oooooh, you might not like P day then.

@Susan, if anyone can spell that then they will forever be the champion of spelling bees!

@Yvonne, tell me about it.

@Deb, thanks for the lesson. That's interesting.

@Jenny, you probably will meet some people with interesting phobias.

@Liz, I guess there is a word for everything!

@Sophie, I tried to stay away from phobias that were common.

@AJ, I remember when I hit 666 followers on Twitter I did a giveaway to celebrate.

@Morgan, I have to agree with you there. Phobias are no laughing matter, but some of them are so out there it's hard to imagine.

@Donna, yeah, I'm a few hundred away from 666 on my Twitter.

@Sati, I wonder how long it'd take them to be able to say it easily.

I was once inline behind a woman in a supermarket. Her shopping came to £6.66 so she added a packet of chewing gum to change it!
