The awesome co-hosts for the September 7 posting of the IWSG will be Joylene Nowell Butler, Jen Chandler, Mary Aalgaard, Lisa Buie Collard, Tamara Narayan, Tyrean Martinson, and Christine Rains!
It figures the book anniversary I wouldn't miss would be a book I didn't write. I just happened to see the date and thought, Why not blog about it?
November 6th will mark two years since I put my sister, Katy's children's book, Great Gooblety Gook! Where is Simon's Favorite Book? up for sale. Wouldn't it be something to say sales on it were pouring in? In reality, I think my father-in-law is the only one to have bought it online so the seller rank is abysmal. One of my besties, I think, got a copy and the other said she would, but has yet to do it. At craft shows, I sell a copy and here and there. Nothing to write home about, but I have fun telling the story behind the book's birth.
But most, if not all, books are labors of love. There's something special about finishing a book and even more so when you can search it on Amazon and see it for sale. How many people say they're going to write a book and then never do it? That's why whenever I get insecure about the book, I think about the love that went into it and my sister's face when I gave it to her (I should have had hubby recording it on my phone. Oh well, hindsight.) She accomplished something not everyone can. That's worth celebrating.
