Of course, I'm not innocent myself. In my Path of Angels series, the first book has a review where the reviewer felt like I wrote a trope. Did I? I don't think so because the motivation for the way I wrote the character was different than what I think the reviewer was thinking I wrote it. But maybe I'm wrong.
In the end, tropes aren't evil and can be written well. But they can also be annoying and over done. That's why they're called tropes. They are something writers should be mindful of when crafting a tale.
