I have to admit, I'm not sure what to talk about. There are no insecurities other than the usual. Will people like Snapshots? How can I get Being Human into readers' hands? But there was something the other day. A feeling I had while reading through Snapshots. Excitement. As I was tweaking and editing, I had a surge of excitement that brought a smile to my face. I was doing it! (Again.) I was getting a book published. I wanted to jump for joy and squee.
For writer's life can be nerve-wracking. There is so much uncertainty about how readers will view our stories. And we don't want our stories to fail. They are our babies and we want them to climb the charts. Reach for the stars! We focus on everything we need to do in hopes of reaching the top and forget to pause and celebrate the small victories. Or if we do, we don't linger long. There's too much work to be done.
So I want to take this blog post to pause and throw a party. Congrats to every writer who has finished a first draft. Cake for every book published - whether it be traditional of indie. A tiara with diamonds added for each glowing review. Today is about savoring every victory and accomplishment. You earned it.
PS: It is total coincidence this post coincided with the 4th of July. =D
