Anyways, 2015 is here and as I stated in a post earlier this week (which was mostly because I didn't want to come back from my week break with the post about the E-Reader sale) that I had plans. When I said that, I wasn't quite sure what those plans were. Still not sure too, but what better time to figure them out than now, while I'm writing this. (There is a TL;DR summary at the bottom.)
One goal I know for sure is Friday Quick Fic. I fell off on it because I kept having things to post on Fridays and I had nothing written ahead of time. The plan is to write 3 or 4 up at once and get them scheduled. Already, I'm on track with that because in December, I wrote up 4. The first one will post next Friday.
Next goal is get Path of Angels published. I have the first cover already and soon will be seeing about getting the second cover done. More editing needs to happen, I need to hire an editor, and I need to make a decision about if I want to use Patricia Lynne or another name since the story isn't YA and I think it'd be considerate to have an easy way for people to tell which books are for which audience. There will be a post about that eventually. I do want to give myself a date to work towards. I'm leaning towards a March release. I'm going to build a todo list for it and hopefully that will keep me working hard on it.
A major thing I need to work on is marketing and promo. I'm as clueless as ever, so I'd really like to find someone who can help me out. This is something I keep putting off because 1)it looks like it requires talking to another person and that's hard for me to do and 2)I'm not sure it's something I can afford. All the prices I've seen are up there. I want to make sure the investment is worth it.
A later goal will be to get another story ready after Path of Angels. I have a few first drafts sitting around, and another couple stories that are partially written. I need to pick one and commit to it.
So for those of you who saw this and thought TL;DR my goals are this:
1)Friday Quick Fic
2)Publish Path of Angels in March
3)Become better at marketing by finding someone who knows what the heck they are doing.
4)Get another story ready for publishing by the end of the year, probably a YA.
Looking at it, it doesn't seem like much, but I'm also accounting for the day job which has a nasty habit of blowing up and taking over my life. I'm hoping for a calm 2015 day job-wise, but you never know in the restaurant business. I have other, smaller goals in mind, but these are the big ones I want to commit to and be held accountable for.
