Snapshots has been relaunched, but sales outside of Amazon have been basically dead. I've done some promo, but most of it points to Snapshots on Amazon. JA Konrath wrote a good post with some tips to breathe life into slumping sales. One of them was to throw the book in Select. It was a suggestion hubby gave too.
Once the thought was there, it was hard to dislodge.
I kept mulling the idea over, but was hesitant to act. I'm still hesitant to act. (I can't spell hesitant to save my life. All three times here, wrong. Thank you spell check.) My issues stem from the fact I only have two books available. There's not much of a backlist for a fan to buy from if they love the story and want more from me. Should I wait until I have more books to offer? Or use it to bump sales on what I have, say, after a free day?
I'm also not keen on the exclusivity of Select. I like having my books available in a variety of places. My eggs aren't in one basket. But Select isn't forever. I could do only 90 days then pull it.
Another reason is more personal. Snapshots has had a bumpy ride. A complete re-edit. I get scared easily with the book. Did I edit it enough? Is it just a crappy book? That always leads to "Am I a bad writer?" Then I panic and distract myself with Doctor Who. (This is always what keeps me from actively looking for book bloggers to review the book. Plus, I get too shy to approach.)
I could really use some thoughts. Tell me your tales about trying Select. Good or bad, I'd like to know. Have you heard any advice that might help me figure out what to do?
