March Question of the Month + Read an Ebook Week

I'm going to start with some shameless promotion. It's Smashwords annual Read an Ebook Week (they really need a hashtag for this to take advantage of Twitter!) Both SNAPSHOTS and BEING HUMAN are enrolled. All this week, at checkout plug in code RAE50 to get 50% off both books!

Now that I'm done with plugging my books, it's time for the question of the month. How it works is Michael D'Agostino poses a thought provoking question for the Interwebz to ponder, and the first Monday you blog your answer.

Have you ever met an idol/influence/someone you really admire?
How did it go?

I had a totally different answer before I remembered I HAVE met someone I admired. If you remember last year, I blogged about MIParacon (a lot) and the awesomeness it is. That year was particularly exciting because I got to listen to Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters fame talk, and meet Nick Groff of Ghost Adventures, but the person I was looking forward to meeting the most was Josh Gates of Destination Truth. I flat out told him I was fangirling and may have bounced a little (probably why I'm blurry in both the pics with him. I was vibrating with excitement! Or possessed by a ghost. It was a paranormal convention after all.)

All that said, I didn't want to just delete my previous answer because there's a few people on Twitter that I admire that I have tweeted at and had them reply back. Cue Fangirling! I've gotten replies from both Kerrelyn Sparks and a youtuber, Liana K (who's Feedback Friday keeps getting stuck in my head on every day EXCEPT Friday.) The last other thing I could say that fits this question is I've seen Green Day preform live twice and, as many people know, I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!

That's my final answer. Feel free to leave yours in the comments, then hop over to Michael's blog and visit others and see what they answered.

Cool you got a picture of you with Nick. Get any of Ernie Hudson?

No, his photos were, I think, $25 and I had spent all my money on books. LOL

That's awesome! I think fangirling is pretty much the same as being possessed, lol.

When I meet writers I admire, I tend to clam up, then regret it afterwards.

I'm surprised I didn't clam up more. It probably helped that I told myself they were there to talk to me and other people were doing it to, so that relaxed me a little.

I do remember when you blogged about that. It would've been so neat meeting Josh Gates!

I had to keep myself in check when blogging about it because I could have dedicated a post to each person, but I was like "No, no, don't over do it." LOL

You were vibrating with excitement! How fun for you to meet him and have your photo taken together.

Asking for a picture was the scariest part even though everyone before me was asking too.

That is so awesome! I met George R.R. Martin years ago, before the GOT TV show, and I lost my voice. So embarrassing!

That's cool you got to meet him at least. I'm sure you're not the first to have that reaction to him.

I met a famous author once, who was signing a book for me and asked how I spelled my name. I could not remember.

But when my Favorite Author of All Time followed me on Twitter and liked my FB author page, I might have done some fangirling of my own then. :)

Hi, Patricia,

Interesting question. Your enthusiasm is catchy. I've met a few local music icons, but was only chuffed to meet one.

Patricia, I' so mad I signed up for and spaced this Blogfest. Anyway, glad to hear you were able to meet some of your heroes! Vibrating with excitement? If only I could be that popular.

Chuck Wendig. He's amazing.

Kiefer Sutherland, a little less so. I had to interview him, and he was snippy to the point of hostile.

I've also met Jane Goodall, but that didn't go very well. She was quite cold.

That's a bummer when you meet someone and they are cold. =(
Chuck does seem like he's a nice guy, but I'm not a fan of his vocabulary he uses on his blog. Just not my thing.

Looking at the picture, and knowing it's at a paranormal con, I'd say it was definitely a ghost running amok with the picture. :-P

I think that's a good explanation to go with. =D
