Once again, I did the Goodreads Reading Challenge in 2017 to keep me motivated to read. If I don't, I tend to skip it in favor of staying up later to write. As a result, I've gotten better at not reading a book in one sitting. I'll be signing up again for 2018, but I thought I'd share a few of the stories I read in 2017 that I really enjoyed with a little review.
Bugs by Stephen Drivick
This was a short story and it creeped me out. The idea of giant bugs taking over the world? UGH! I don't mind bugs as long as they aren't touching me. Plus, the bigger, the more they get to me. Don't get me wrong, I find bugs interesting, they just also gross me out. The ending of this story was perfect too. It kind lets you make a decision about it and that's unique.
Get it on Amazon for 99cents if you want to be creeped out.
1301: The Marquis (The 13th Floor #1) by Christine Rains
Full disclosure, Christine and I are writing buddies. We swap stuff all the time, but I still love her stories and this one was amazing. There is a ton of action, a bit of romance, and lots of destruction. I was on the edge of my seat. Other characters who showed up perked my interest and made me want to read more in this series.
It's the first book in a series and is free or you can get the boxed set for $4.99 on Amazon.
Self-Help 101 or: How to Select a Costume to Help You Deal With People by L.G. Keltner
Another good addition to the Self Help 101 series. It was fun seeing Dani at college and the shenanigans she and her friends got up with. I think this is my second favorite next to book 1. (Which I don't think can really be topped, but the entire series is fun and worth it. See my review for that here.
All the books are 99cents on Amazon. Get them so L.G. writes more because I want more. ;)
PS: I got an email from Amazon and they were all, 'you really sux teh ballz at this affiliate thing, so if you don't git gud, we're closing your account, loser.'. (excuse me Amazon for not wanting to shill 24/7 to my blog readers. =P) So these links are affiliate links. I hope Amazon is happy now.
PPS: I really did love all these books. Here's my complete 2017 reading challenge if you're curious to what else I read. Three of those books were DNFs, but even not counting those, I still completed the challenge.
