This was something I posted to Twitter, and I decided to share it here as well.
I also have friends who work in health care or other essential jobs. My nephew's dad is still working and when he gets home, he stripes off his clothes, throws them in the wash and takes a shower before he interacts with his son. And he does this EVERY DAY because he has to.
Plus the death of my brother from cancer 2 years ago is still fresh. I can still see my dad's face as he tried not to break down as he accepted the flag from a Navy officer at my brother's funeral.
I do not want to go through that again with my 9 year old nephew. I wish people already haven't had to go through that with loved ones. I think being quarantined sucks. I don't like it.
It's wrecking the economy where I live because this is a tourist trap area. We rely on people coming here and spending money and no one can. BUT I'd rather that than having to attend another funeral of a family member taken too soon, especially if it could have been prevented.
So while it sucks and is scary to have politicians pass orders saying "no, you can't do this", remember it's not just about you. It's about the people didn't ask to have shit immune systems or illnesses and have to rely on healthy people to not spread the virus.
We are in this together, so let's act like it.
