Given my fond memories of family game night, I thought it would be fun to dive back into Being Human and write a scene where Dan gets Tommy to join in on Family Game Night. I have a sneaky suspicion after this, Dan isn't going to attempt to get Tommy to play another board game. It takes place between part 3 and 4 in Being Human.
My brother sighed at my question from across the table. “We explained the rules and you said you understood.”
Next to me, my niece was giggling into her hand. I had no idea what was funny. I turned my attention back to my brother. “I did. I just don’t understand how you figured out it was the butler with the candlestick in the library.” I picked up the small plastic prop. “Plus, you can’t kill anyone with this.”
My brother’s wife, Rissa smiled in amusement. “Tommy, it’s pretend, remember? No one died. Each time you play there is a new murderer. Next time it might be Miss Scarlet with the rope in the study.”
“There will be a next time?” I asked.
“Yes! Let’s play again,” my niece declared.
My brother and Rissa shot her a stern glare. Her eyes widened and her eyebrows lifted into an innocent look. I examined her expression and then mimicked her.
My brother shook his head again. “If you’re going to mimic humans, don’t mimic a twelve year old girl. Why don’t we put everything away for the night?”
The game was packed up and Rissa ushered my niece to bed. My brother grabbed two beers from the refrigerator and handed one to me. I examined the brown bottled, deciding on something.
“I had fun… I think. Did I have fun?”
My brother smiled at me. “Of course, lil bro.”
