Today's post will just be a #writemotivation update. If you don't know what it is, it's a great way to get writing and editing by creating monthly goals. Participants cheer each other on. You can follow the hashtag on Twitter or visit the blog. Sign ups for February should be opening soon – if they aren't already.
Seriously, if you're struggling, this is a good kick in the butt to get writing.
Goal 1: Write my ghost story. Which still needs a title. – I actually ended up writing 400ish words on another story. For a while, a little short story has been sitting unfinished. It was at 3000 words. I deleted those and started over when I woke up with a new way to take the story.
Goal 2: Edit Out of Secrets. I have notes from MB and MJ. They are on my desktop, staring at me. – Still staring at me. I think they might be crying from neglect.
Goal 3: Read. I got some books for Christmas so might as well start there. – I had no time last week. Sunday I did beta read Slasherazzi for my buddy Daniel A. Kaine. Mmmm, serial killers.
Goal 4: This is the most important goal. Not let myself get down, and if I do, remember I have friends who care about my happiness and well being. – Had a down moment this past Saturday, but it didn't last long thanks to hubby.
Goal 5: Reread Snapshots and do any edits if needed. – I did a half of chapter on Saturday and finished it on Sunday.
As I expected, due to my day job, I had little time and energy to work on my goals. I started training a new guy and had three 9 hour shifts. Plus, I walk to work, so you can imagine by 6pm when I clock out I am done. Most of what I got done was over the weekend. Thankfully, training is over and we decided to keep the original schedule this week so that means I have one 9 hour shift and four 5 hour shifts and the weekend off. That should give me plenty of time to make up for last week.
On the plus side, the busy work week gave me overtime and I will have a VERY pretty paycheck.
PS: Cover Wars is STILL happening. Vote daily. For me. My cover rocks. Also, you can buy the book that goes with the cover. Who'da thunk? ;) (It's been a while since I've pimped the book.)
PPS: My friend Kayleigh started a FB page for her book blog. Go give it a like please. (She's the one who made the awesome playlist for Being Human.)
